Little Run Big @ RLS this year! Friday, April 3rd, all RLS students and staff will be participating in a shorter version of Run Big (hence "Little") in the neighborhood.
  • Students will attend shortened classes Friday, April 3rd.
  • Students should wear comfortable clothing and shoes they can run in.
  • Students will be participating in a "color run"-they should wear a shirt and shorts they don't mind getting colored...it washes out.
  • We will depart RLS at approximately 10:15-->run towards SHES and Carpy Field-->Hi-Five the SHES students-->return to RLS for a celebration, popsicle and 12:30 dismissal.
  • SAFETY- Our School Resource Officer, staff, and parent volunteers will help monitor where students will be crossing streets.
Thank you to PG, Give Big, and Leadership for keeping this tradition alive!

The pedestrian gate upgrades will begin March 31st with an estimated 2 days of work. The vehicle gate will be open for access however the gate near the D-wing won't be accessible during this time. Please plan accordingly and I'll communicate any updates.

CAASPP Testing Update-
  • Parents-as you may recall, students in grades 3-8 and 11 take an annual standardized test called the Smarter Balanced Assessment in ELA and Math. Students in grade 8 also take a science test entitled the CAST.
  • These assessments are not included in your students' grades. They do, however, help us as a school and district measure learning, evaluate programs, and allocate resources in an informed manner.
  • We are required to share the information linked here (English) and here (Spanish) prior to standardized testing beginning.
  • In addition, I want to share these resources (English  Spanish) with you as they provide additional information about testing suggestions on how you can assist your student in preparing for the assessment, lowering anxiety, and understanding the exam itself.
