We loved seeing a packed house of families on Wednesday evening at Back To School Night! Thank you for joining us. Middle School is an interesting and fun time for students...and just as interesting for their parents. Or more.
We hope you have a solid understanding of how your students' teachers will communicate with you, what their expectations are, and how you can support your student(s). Reach out if you need to!

Please remember to take a moment and consider your role in helping us, help All Students Learn at Grade Level or Higher! It's a team sport!

This Week in ACADEMICS
We hope you had a great time and learned a little something from Back To School Night!
Our first two weeks with having 2 Access classes has gone fantastic! We have been able to offer students enrichment, extensions, study halls, and interventions.

Our AVID word of the month for September is SUMMARIZE. Summarize is a verb that means to give a brief statement of the main points of something. Students, please read this article and summarize the most important points in one paragraph.

After School Study Hall starts this week! 3:10-4:10 FOR ALL STUDENTS in room A1, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday....and soon Fridays (but not yet).
This Week in ACTIVITIES and "Caught you demonstrating..."
The value winners for today are:
6th:       Adelaide Bennett / Respect
7th:       Eddy Monroy / Respect
8th:       Delia Bennett / Integrity

Did you know that over 80% of RLS students last year reported knowing that at least one adult on campus had high expectations of them! Over 80% of RLS students also had a positive perception of our school culture and their role in it!
This is based on the California Healthy Kids Survey and our local Kelvin Survey data. Some areas for us to focus on this year, despite being above the state average, is academic motivation and meaningful participation.

We look forward to working with the leadership and yearbook classes along with finding opportunities for all students to help define what these two areas mean to them and working together to boost student perceptions in these areas while maintaining such positive experiences elsewhere.
