Parent Newsletter

Week of June 2, 2025
Well....here we are! The last week of school! We have an action packed week never-the-less.
I will send a final newsletter next week closing out the school year and providing some general information for the start of next year.
I was fortunate to spend two days with our 8th grade students and brave parent and staff chaperones last week. I am happy to report that all students had a wonderful time, none were sent home early, and a truly valuable, and grounding experience was had by all...without technology!
Now, for the final week's business:
Promotion-
  • Promotion seating is first come, first seated.  We do not allow families to reserve or block off seating prior to the ceremony and will remove any blankets, cordons, etc. that are placed on or around chairs.  There are no tickets or limits on attendance.

  • So that all families can easily see their student promote, balloons and signs are not permitted in the seating area.

  • Students should dress nicely: pants/slacks, dresses, collared shirts. Extremely casual attire, such as shorts and t-shirts, is discouraged.  Be aware that students will be walking on the lawn and up several stairs, so high heels can be difficult to manage.
    • While we appreciate individual style, we encourage a threshold of somewhere between “if your grandmother/grandfather would blush” and “don’t get more attention than a viral cat video” when selecting your child’s outfit. All joking aside, we want a safe and school-appropriate event, and we appreciate your consideration.
  • Students need to be at RLS by 5:30 to line up and get ready for the ceremony
  •  Professional photographs will be taken of each student prior to the ceremony and as they cross the stage.  We will provide a link to the file so parents can download and print pictures at no cost.  If you do not want your child to be photographed and included in the file, please notify the school ahead of time.

  • Outstanding RLS bills are due prior to promotion.

Monday, June 2- Field Day! Congrats to our 7th grade students who have won our spirit points competition! They will receive extra time for field day.
Field day will run from 2-3. Students may get wet so packing an extra pair of clothes and avoiding white clothing is recommended.
6th grade will turn in their Chromebooks.
Tuesday, June 3-Oddly regular day at RLS.
Wednesday, June 4- Talent Show and the Staff vs. 8th grade basketball game. Approximately 12:40-dismissal time.
Thursday, June 5-Minimum day-dismissal at 12:30. Promotion begins at 6PM, 8th grade arrival time is 5:30. 8th grade celebration to follow the ceremony.
Monday, August 18- First day of the 2025/26 school year.
ALL PARENTS-
We are beginning to notice energy drinks on campus. Please assist us in not providing these to your student when they come to school. I have provided some information from our Nurse linked here. Energy Drinks of any kind are not allowed on campus and will be emptied and recycled or thrown in the trash. Additionally, progressive discipline will apply.

Have a great week! Link to Parent Square Calendar
