"If you don't know where you're going, any path will get you there." -Lewis Carroll

It's just about here, the first day of school! We look forward to seeing your student tomorrow and embarking on this journey with your family.

6th-Grade Orientation with WEB was a blast as was new-to-RLS family orientation )for 7th and 8th grade families who did not attend during 6th-grade). Thank you for attending.

If you reach out to our office and/or staff, please remain patient with our response time. We always strive to return your contact day-off or within 24 hours. That said, the first few days of the school year we want to be sure remain available for our students, your children.

Tuesday, if you have RLS gear or some blue clothing, etc. encourage your student to wear them! It's school spirit day, EVERY TUESDAY!

________________________Repeat Information Below_________________

Below I have provided our bell schedule. Monday, Thursday, and Friday we have all 7 periods. Tuesday has periods 1, 2, and 3, as well as two access classes and advisory. Wednesday your student will have periods 4,5,6, and 7 with dismissal at 2PM. Otherwise school dismissal is at 3PM.

Access is a class where you're student will be placed in either a study hall, intervention, or extension based on their performance on recent assessments and school work.
In Advisory we focus on socio-emotional learning, school climate and culture, and once a month we have a school rally!

Typically students arrive around 8AM either on Hillview or Elmhurst. Please note-you cannot drop off in the bus loop off Hillview; we provide crossing supervision every morning immediately in front of the E-wing off Hillview and ask that students cross there only.

We'll be reviewing rules with your student however, please look through the first few pages of their student handbook. There are important points about attendance, truancy, dress code, cell phones, and other general school rules. These guidelines are applied equally to all students. The student planner will be distributed the first period of the first day of school and will remain in your student's possession all year.

One of these I want to draw your attention to is our "Off and Away Until the End of the Day" cell phone/device policy. Students must have their device(s) off and in their backpack from bell to bell. The only exceptions pertain to medical need and are documented separately. If a student is on their device or it is found in their pocket, jacket, or on their person during the day, it is confiscated and only returned when a parent or guardian can come pick it up. We appreciate your support with this policy. It may be harsh, but it's effective and ensures a safe teaching and learning environment for all students.
Each week I'll put important dates for that week below. Otherwise, please access all important dates through the Parent Square Calendar, linked below.
